In studying the word sure I found that some translations
change it to trustworthy. In this study, we have seen a great deal of
attributes that we all like to see in a person we consider trustworthy. God is
a sure thing and so is His Law. We think it is restrictive, but in reality
following it saves us from a great deal of harm and frustration in life.
Ps 19:7 NKJV
The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul;
The testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the
simple;
If we follow the Ten Commandments, we can be sure of
quite a few things. We will know how to treat people properly, even those we
consider enemies. We will know true love, love that lies down life to help
another. Giving instead of taking for ourselves would become the norm. The
person with the most toys does not win. Material things are soon long
forgotten, but a legacy of generosity will live on and inspire others. The
world would be a better place if we lived by Jesus’ example in how to treat one
another. We don’t need to agree on everything, but we should agree that God got
it right in how we should relate to each other.
Ps 111:7 NLT
All he does is just and good, and all his commandments
are trustworthy.
We already discussed that God is good. If He were not, He
could not properly judge the commandments He gave us. We can trust that they
will help us live properly with others. They will set us free from all the hang
ups we have due to not treating people properly. We all have made mistakes and
truly admitting them to those affected goes a long way in better relations. It
may not solve everything, but your conscience will feel better knowing you did
the right thing per God in trying to correct a wrong.
2 Tim 2:19 NLT
But God's truth stands firm like a foundation stone with
this inscription: "The Lord knows those who are his," and "Those
who claim they belong to the Lord must turn away from all
wickedness."
God will know who is truly His. We are the ones following
His commandments. We are the ones admitting our mistakes in order to try to
reconcile with those we may have hurt. Does God know you are His?
